Our Story

The London Institute of Actuarial Studies was established in response to a growing disconnect between traditional academic actuarial education and the professional contexts in which actuarial judgement is exercised.

LIAS was founded as a purpose-built academic institute rooted in the UK academic tradition, with clear alignment to the curriculum and assessment framework of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). Its development has been guided by considerations of academic coherence, professional credibility, and long-term institutional continuity.
